Character Name: Emerald Storm

Age: Don’t ask a girl her age, isn’t proper. But she's older than she acts.
Date of Birth: January 19th, but the year isn’t known by many.
Eye & Hair Color: Blue & Long natural jet black
Height & Weight: 5'6" & around 132
Birth Place: In-the-Black or so she claims.
Gender: Female
Ethnicity: Well basically these days you’re prominently a certain old-world nationality or a mix of just about everything imaginable. Most of the time a person looks a certain way, but has plenty of relatives that are something else entirely. Every now and then a person’s general appearance or maybe name hint at where he or she might have come from. In Emm’s case her dark black hair, and ability to tan quickly hint at the fact her ancestry is that of the old Earth-that-Was Native Americans. And when you might think about it, her name, Emerald Storm, very Indian if you ask me.

Appearance: She has big piercing blue eyes, which sometimes almost seem hypnotically. When she spends time planet-side in the sunlight, then she tans quickly. With in a day or two she has a nice, week looking vacation appearance. However when spending long weeks in the dead of the black, she tends to become a bit pale as all would. Except with her jet black hair her color stands out a bit more than the others might. Otherwise her skin color seems to range from pales to tans. Sometimes she’ll wear heavy make up, mostly just her lips and eyes and other times she’ll wear none. It depends on her mood really. Sometimes, if she’s bored, she’ll braid beads and feathers into her hair. Her eye brow is pierced, although usually she only has a straight earring in it. Her ears are also pierced. If she has a tattoo or several… They are hidden beneath her layers of ruffles and silk.

Emm tends to where lots of frilly things. Silk, puff sleeve shirts, things with lace, corsets, leather, strip colored tights, skirts, black or dark shaded colors, arm sleeves, she has fishnet and isn’t afraid to use it. On occasion she’ll wear something plain or ‘normal’, but usually she’s wearing something that stands out or is exotic. She has numerous hats, all of which have feathers, or glitter, or colored leather; something to compliment her outfit, normally. Her jewelry is wide in variety, but she’s usually wearing something shiny on her hands, neck, ears, ankles, head, eyebrows, and even toes. Shoes; again she has a variety of things including, mostly, anything with a heel and tall knee high boots. Often enough she has colored feathered boas lying around.

Family: No notable family that at least she talks about. Although Gwen is treated as a sister might be, and Oddball is treated like a brother would. But to Emerald her entire crew is her family.

:: HISTORY AND PERSONALITY ::

History: : Emm is a very private person when it comes to her roots. Whether it be that she has dirty little secrets, or if simply she doesn’t see it fit to talk about something that isn’t in her life now. The only thing or rather person from her life before captaining Lorrayna Phoenix, is Guinivere Hawks. So a lucky person might be able to trick her into talking, if you wanted to know badly enough.

Otherwise Emerald’s tale, as publicly known, started when she got her hands on Lorrayna Phoenix. Whatever happened to Lula Marrs and Kara Ann N. Mohan-Jadamoore, the brains behind the ship, well that’s a forgotten secret. Some of the crew in the past, and even in rumors around the verse says that Emerald killed the owners of the ship and snagged it for her own. But what good are rumors when you could ask Emerald herself. But thing is, just like her childhood, she ain’t going to tell you a thing about how she got the ship. This be a thing Miss Hawks doesn’t even know.

After claming the ship as her own, she sat out to acquire crew. It started out as Emerald wanting to sail the black. To live a life not restricted to a solid planet, or ridicules rules on other peoples fancy ships. Some might say she was running from somebody, be it an organization or an old lover, maybe even the Alliance it’s self. Nobody knows, she just wanted to be free. So with her bird she made herself free. This was two years before the war was over, and the ship did salvage jobs to keep a float during the hard times.

A thing happened a few months after Unification, a horrid thing that ended in all the ship’s original crew being killed or disappearing. Perhaps the original Engineers were amongst those that day, would make all the sense in the world really. Afterwards Emm started to drink, and she was angry for a little while but that phase soon out lived it’s self and Emerald was off to find a new crew to replace those that had been taken from her. Her childhood friend, the mentioned Guinivere Hawks was the first to be hired, and others soon followed afterwards. Oddball was the next one to be hired, and soon after she had plenty enough folk to get sailing again. Only this time Emm didn’t concern herself with salvage and barely getting by on honest work, the crew did as ordered, taking what the captain wanted whenever she wanted. Giving little thought to rules, and laws, or other peoples rights. Not that she was cold or heartless; she only took from those that could afford it. And she helped those that couldn’t.

Personality: Emm has a determined sort of personality. Once her mind has been made up, only one thing will keep her from getting what she wants and that is death. She can have a very serious, harsh personality if you catch her at the wrong moments or if you upset her in the slightest manner. However luckily for her crew it takes a bit to upset her, because normally she has a spunky free going outlook on things. Whether that’s the way she really is, or if it’s all a well elaborate act to hide her darker self. Nobody really knows, although many of her crew have assumed that perhaps it is, hence where the rumors come from.

She has a drinking problem, nothing that disables her ability as Captain. But defiantly she spends more time in a sort of haze than completely sober. She likes shiny things, and in that sense also has a greedy-stealing problem. She knows when to with strain herself, she just usually doesn’t. It takes her first-mate or security officer usually to keep her all proper and civilized at times. She doesn’t like the Alliance, and she shows very little compassion for the Browncoats. She’s really just a complicated lost girl, trying to find her way free in this big bad ‘Verse. Course she has a nasty bite, to cover up all that sadness, a lot like her security officer does. But she covers up the bite with silly-ness and amusement. She can be a moody little thing.

Strengths: Piloting, fighting with a sword, knowledge of mechanics and engineering. Bloody brilliant way of knowing when a person is lying or scheming against her. She’s a mighty good swimmer, knowledge of the old ways on Earth-that-Was, a seemingly good education.
Language[s]: English and Chinese
Weaknesses: Alcohol, shiny money and other material objects. Very little use of guns, beyond that of black powered pistols. Shiny fancy ruffled cloths, shoes, jewelry [which is already mentioned above]. Men, she has been known to sleep around while planet-side. Very little physical fighting ability, unarmed that is.
